Angela Ackerman, MBA, BSN, RN
Administrative Director of Outcome Management
Angie Ackerman is the Administrative Director of Outcome Management, known to most in the healthcare industry as Case Management. She joined UTMC in 2011 after serving in a variety of leadership positions with another large hospital system in Toledo. She currently leads many quality project initiatives at UTMC, including Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership (?OIPP?) and Care Innovation and Community Improvement Program (?CICIP?). She also serves as a member of the Toledo Lucas County Carenet Board of Directors.
Angie is responsible for a unique team that oversees many areas of revenue-focused services at UTMC. These services, sometimes referred to as the ?Cash Register,? are essential for the financial success of the hospital. This unique group of direct reports includes Utilization Review, Hospital Case Managers, Social Workers, House Supervisors/Transfer Center, Documentation Specialists, and Outpatient Case Management.
Angie is a Toledo native with over 27 years of experience in nursing. She earned her bachelor?s degree in nursing from Lourdes University and her master?s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo. Her primary focus is to improve hospital revenue from admission to discharge. Her recent accomplishments include implementing a new Behavioral Transitions Program that will bridge a high-risk patient population from the emergency department to the ambulatory care setting for continuation of recovery services. Additionally, she is the project manager of a team that is creating a revenue-focused approach to documentation improvement. By restructuring the inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement Team, she will increase productivity and improve the overall hospital case mix index.
Edward Beatrice is a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience in senior living and long-term care. As a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) since 2004, he holds licenses in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Caring Place Healthcare Group, overseeing facilities in Dayton and Cincinnati.
Committed to compassionate and dignified care, Edward fosters a culture of excellence by mentoring and inspiring professionals in the field. He believes that true leadership happens at the bedside?where the best solutions are found?and is dedicated to empowering staff to provide exceptional care for residents and their families.
Caryn Enderle
MA, CCC/SLP
Caryn is a Speech-Language Pathologist by background with nearly 30 years of experience in navigating post-acute care. She has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that SNF leaders face. As the Director of Business Development at Concept Rehab, she works alongside post-acute care operators to provide solutions and innovations that improve clinical, quality, and financial outcomes across the continuum of care.
As a trusted expert in post-acute care, she supports local, state and national associations through advocacy, education, and sharing best practices. She is driven by a passion for superior resident care and a commitment to accountability. She assists SNF leaders to adapt to evolving market trends such as emerging payment models and quality reform, to ensure their success in this dynamic sector.
Eric Kennerk, MBA
Business Development Manager - Premier Therapy
Eric has over 25 years of experience in Business Development and Sales, including 20+ years in Long Term Care / Healthcare. He is also a Professional Educator, in his 10th year as an Adjunct Professor for the College of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Kent State University. Eric serves as a board member for several state and local organizations, and has presented to a number of industry associations on topics related to business and personal communication, workplace conflict, and stress management. Eric received his undergraduate degree in Communications from Ohio University, and his MBA from Grand Canyon University.
Hayley Simpson is a healthcare operations leader with over 15 years of experience in skilled nursing and post-acute care. She began her career in 2009 in sales and marketing before becoming a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in 2010. Hayley has held progressive leadership roles, including several years as a facility administrator and later as a Regional Director of Operations, overseeing skilled nursing facilities across Ohio and Indiana.
In 2023, she transitioned to the hospital setting, joining a major academic medical center as a Post-Acute Care Operations Consultant. In her current role, Hayley supports cross-functional teams and leads strategic initiatives aimed at improving post-acute care coordination and optimizing performance across a network of skilled nursing facilities.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Administration with a specialization in Gerontology from Ohio University.
6.75 CE credits for Ohio NHA, Ohio Nurses, CEAL and CEHCH.
