Social media has become an activity of daily living for the residents and employees of Skilled Nursing Facilities. Social media is an integral arm of SNF marketing and admissions. By bridging communication gaps between residents and their family and friends, social media expands the walls of the residents beyond the SNF and helps to develop an increased sense of competency and personal happiness. This presentation will provide insight on how social media can amplify ?quality of life? among residents when incorporated into daily activities and programming while also promoting SNFs to potential clients via online content.
Social Media is revolutionizing the way people communicate and interact impacting every aspect of day-to-day life. With billions already accessing and using social media, this presentation explores the elder market segment and how social media can impact their lives as a communications, socialization, and therapeutic tool. The presentation explores how SNFs can build social media into the daily lives of residents and use social media to enhance the experience, activity and health of elders. The presentation also discusses how SNFs can use social media as vehicle that enhances marketing and reputation in the communities they serve.

Jon A. Di Gesu is the Vice President of Marketing for Harmony Healthcare International (HHI) an industry leader in Long-Term Care consulting. Jon and his team are responsible for managing the marketing strategy, branding, messaging, public relations, trade show and event planning and logistics, lead generation and management, campaigns, blogs and newsletters for Harmony Healthcare International???s sales and marketing outreach. Jon brings over 30 years of marketing and communications experience plus a strong grounding in both the business-to-business and consumer marketplace. Jon holds a BA in English from Fairfield University, Fairfield CT and an Executive MBA from the Consortium of Executive Education, Babson College, Wellesley, MA.

CEUs & Other Education Requirements:
Each program is approved for one (1.0) hour of credit for CEAL, nursing home administrators and nurses. Individual attendance will be monitored throughout the call. Only those attending the entire call will be awarded continuing education credit. All participants regardless of need for CEUs, will receive a certificate of attendance. This course is considered a self-study course by Ohio BELTSS. Administrators are reminded that BELTSS limits teleconference (home/self-study) credits to a total of ten (10.0) per renewal period. Administrators are required to complete a post-test immediately following the event with a passing score of not less than 80% prior to earning the 1 CEU. .

How much does it cost?
Facilities will pay one low fee for an unlimited number of participants. However, the number and access code is valid only for one phone line/computer at the location registered with the Association. Any additional phone connections calling in will be billed the individual session registration fee.
