Are you new to your role? Feeling excited, proud, or challenged every day? Do you feel overwhelmed? Wondering to whom you might reach out with your questions about running a program or where to go for the latest information? Wouldn't it be great to have colleagues who can show you the ropes and tell you about what they did and found most valuable when they first started their careers?
The Activity Director Bootcamp is a new training opportunity from OHCA to help light a path of excellence for a new Activity Director. It was created to help inspire and empower new directors who are still getting their bearing in long term care. OHCA designed this boot camp in collaboration with a team of veteran directors and aimed to provide valuable hands-on experience and insight. You will be able to hone your abilities and boost your talents.
This intensive two-day training features seasoned directors recalling their first day experiences and what they found most valuable as they entered long term care. You will become part of a cohort of colleagues where you build new opportunities for learning and exchanging right practices.
The presentations are about more than theory; they will provide information to equip you with practical tools and strategies necessary to have an immediate impact on your department.
Who Should Attend
OHCA targeted this boot camp to those in their first three years of being a director or those who are interested in a refresher for their professional development.

Bootcamp Schedule
Check In & Coffee will be available each day beginning at 8:30 am. The program will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 4:45 pm. (Lunch & breaks included)
All participants receive a certificate of completion.
The agenda will take a deep dive into four modules:
Module 1: Regulations & Survey
Module 2: Leadership, Management & Human Resources
Module 3: Documentation
Module 4: Programming
Each module will include lecture, small group discussion, and interaction. Learn essential & relevant skills to improve your success in this role.
As a bonus, each boot camp participant will receive a comprehensive manual of resources.

Faculty
Our faculty are practicing activity directors, activities consultants, life enrichment coordinators, and recreation therapists who bring over 300 years of combined experience into the classroom.

Continuing Education Credit:
Application has been approved for 13.5 CE credits from the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).
CEAL (Certified Executive for Assisted Living) can earn 13.5 credits toward their renewal.
Credit is also available for NHA and nurses.
