12:15 p.m. Skilled Nursing Facility Reimbursement: What Every Therapist needs to know
Presented by Robin L. Hillier, CPA, STNA, LNHA, RAC-MT and Sheri Tomlinson, SLP

This session will discuss the current issues in SNF reimbursement. Major changes in the MDS 3.0 and RUG IV, scheduled for October 1, 2010 implementation will be discussed along with Medicaid reimbursement issues such as the pricing system and bundling. Reimbursement issues have far-reaching implications to long term care facilities and therapy providers alike, and this session will teach you everything you need to know for a successful transition.

Major Changes to Medicare PPS and RUG IV
Medicaid Reimbursement in Ohio
Overview of Pricing System

Instructors:

Shane Craycraft is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. He is currently the Vice President of Operations for R&B Health Systems. He has worked in Long Term Care for 15 years and has held positions from floor nurse and supervisor to Director of Nursing and Administrator. Shane has served as the Chairman of the Facility Standards Committee and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Health Care Association. He was also selected to be a Future Leader by the American Health Care Association.

Robin L. Hillier is a certified public accountant, state tested nurse aide, and licensed nursing home administrator who is Resident Assessment Coordinator Certified and a Master Trainer through the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators. She owns RLH Consulting, which provides accounting, reimbursement and operational consulting to long term care facilities, and has also owned a skilled nursing facility in the past. She has provided consulting to the long term care profession for over twenty years and is a well known presenter on reimbursement, MDS and case mix topics.

Kim Saylor graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1999 with a BS in Occupational Therapy. Kim has worked with Concept Rehab, Inc. for 9 years and has held multiple clinical and administrative positions within the organization. Currently, Kim works as the Director of Business Development for CRI. She has a variety of clinical experience within the long-term care setting and has multiple successes enhancing the role of rehabilitation within the clinical, financial, and compliance contexts of Long Term Care. Kim has extensive experience and ongoing education in maintaining to-the-minute knowledge regarding Person Centered Care and Medicare regulations impacting the Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care Setting. In the state of Ohio, Kim is pioneering how to successfully implement therapy into the Small House/Green House Model through collaboration with one of Ohio’s leading LTC providers to build and implement the small house person centered care model.
Sheri Tomlinson, SLP, Director of Quality Assurance, has worked with Therapy Partners since 2005. Tomlinson formerly served as a Regional Director of Rehabilitation as well as a Therapy Program Manager with other rehabilitation organizations. She has extensive experience in training staff on company procedures and regulatory requirements. Her attention to detail and knowledge of the industry and regulations ensures the Internal Quality Assurance needs of Therapy Partners are being met.
Continuing Education Credits:

Nursing Home Administrators -- 5 hours of continuing education credit is available through Ohio BENHA.

Nurses -- 5 hours of continuing education is available.

Occupational Therapists -- application has been submitted to the Ohio Occupational Therapy Board.

Physical Therapists -- 5 hours have been granted by the Ohio Physical Therapy Association.

Speech Therapists -- general CEUs can be used with PT or OT approval or any other approval process such as Ohio BENHA.
