Since inception of direct bill with Ohio Medicaid, long term care organizations have done a better job of reporting the status of their patients to collect their receivables more timely. However, there are opportunities left on the table due to facilities lack of follow through, attention to detail, and getting cases approved. This session will concentrate on efforts
which should be made in dealing with caseworkers, area agencies, and understanding the remittance advices returned to providers.
Objectives
• Discuss the “best practice” use of a Pending Medicaid payer in your accounts receivable aging reports
• Explore the timing of when level of care requirements are needed and how that impacts your ability to be paid timely and how it will impact the MIC audits
• Interpreting the remittance advices that providers receive and how to effectively work and investigate denials
